A snapshot of what I'm focused on, updated every few weeks. Inspired by Derek Sivers' /now movement.
Work
Software Development Engineer II at Amazon Web Services, on the Trusted Advisor team. Currently leading architecture for a sovereign cloud region launch — eight services, six engineers, five platform teams, one shared deadline. Most of my days are split between design reviews, unblocking the team, and writing code that has to be right the first time.
Pushing on agentic AI workflows with MCP server integrations for CI/CD internally. Touchless deploys and auto-remediation are not as far off as people think.
Writing
Slowly migrating the good parts of my older Medium writing over to this blog, and starting to draft current-era posts. Next up: a walkthrough of the authorization layer we built to protect 1,800+ accounts from a path-traversal-shaped mistake that almost shipped.
Reading
- Designing Data-Intensive Applications — Martin Kleppmann. My re-read of the decade. See why.
- The Anarchy — William Dalrymple. The East India Company as a corporate hostile-takeover cautionary tale.
- Kafka: The Definitive Guide — for a re-architecture I'm poking at.
Learning
- Rust, slowly. Mostly via Advent of Code archives and the occasional Lambda handler at work.
- Vedic astronomy, via the same rabbit holes that produced the 108 find and the Aryabhata find.
Outside of work
Hiking as much as the Pacific Northwest weather allows — currently chipping away at the Cascades day-hike list. Cooking more Maharashtrian food from my mom's recipes. Weightlifting. Occasionally climbing.
Not doing
Not taking new side projects, not going to conferences, not on Slack. Saying no to a lot so I can say yes to fewer, bigger things.
